Protecta Bed Mat -- Cheap Protection
A Protecta Bed Mat protects truck beds from damage without costing a large amount of money. With thick rubber truck bed mats you get several advantages over other types of bed liners. The price is so low it seems this type of liner might be a waste. It's far from it.
Applications of Protecta Bed Mat
Rubber truck bed mats prevent pickup bed damage so well because the materials used are so tough. That means not only do you get scratch protection, you get dent protection too. That;s so important since dents are in many ways worse than scratches. They're certainly more difficult to repair and reduct the value of any truck.
Protecting the pickup bed isn't all bed mats accomplish. Protecting more expensive bed liners may be almost equally important. Either a drop in plastic liner or an expensive spray on liner works great in many ways. But if you haul really rough loads, you risk damaging the liner, if not the truck bed itself.
But add in a cheap Protecta bed mat and you protect the more expensive bed liner from any damage at all. And since the bed mats just slip in and out, it's an easy matter to slip in the mat just for a particular project. Slip it out when you're finished.

Thick Corded Heavy
The key to the protection of the Protecta Bed Mat comes with the material used to manufacture them. It's "rubber," but there's more. The material is a corded material that includes reinforcing cords in a rubber-like matrix. It's material that looks much like tire material.
Like with tires, you get material that's tough to cut or scratch, is all but immune to chemical damage from almost anything. Plus, being rubber like, it soaks up shocks like a sponge. Then, since it's so thick it spreads impact over a large area, thus all but stopping dents.
The Protecta bed mat is plenty thick, about 3/8 inches to be exact. That means it's heavy too. You don't need to worry about tying it down in a pickup bed. The weight will keep it planted flat in your bed wherever you put it down.
Custom Fit or Trim To Fit
For many pickups, the mat is cut to fit. That means the wheel well clearance is molded in as are clearances for other features standard in your pickup. Maybe minor trimming might be needed, but most likely not.
Then if you have a truck or any application not covered by a custom mat, trim-to-fit mats are available made of the same materials but in larger sizes to fit after you trim the mat.
Ribs and Knobs
One main plus for the Protecta Bed Mat is the non-skid surface you get. No sliding and slipping of cargo on a rubber mat. But the upper surface contains molded-in ribs to make moving loads easier. With out the ribs, it would be much more difficult to move things around on the mat.
Some mats tend to slide around on the truck bed. Carpet mats can be slippery on the bed as can plastic liners. Rubber mats stay put because of the rubber to metal fit. The under side of the Protecta mat is pebbled texture. The pebbles help the mat grip the bed.
Pebbles also keep most of the Protecta bed mat up off the truck bed. That lets water drain out of the be like it should. That's something to watch for with some mats, like plastic mats. Water that hangs around under mats often leads to rust and corrosion. That's especially if you don't know the water is there.
Good draining under rubber mats is a real hidden plus. But since the mats are so easy to put in and take out, it's easy to just pull the mat out and make sure the bed has a chance to dry any time the truck gets wet.
A Protecta Bed Mat is so cheap it may appear to be a waste of time and money. This may not be the case. That's because rubber bed mats protect from damage from impacts and rough loads that will damage many other liners. Mats protect bed paint and more expensive bed liners at low cost and with easy installation.
